In order to keep Jr. High Youth Group enjoyable and safe for everyone, we will be addressing rude, disrespectful, or other adverse behavior in the following ways:
1st Offense: We will give the student a warning
2nd Offense: We will contact student’s parents
3rd Offense: Student will be asked to sit out the next youth group. If behavior continues after student returns, student will not be permitted back to youth group for the remainder of the school year.
Exception - depending on the degree of the issue, adults may skip one or all of the steps above.
Jr. High Youth Group meetings are held twice monthly on Friday right after school. We meet for a snack before each meeting. Meetings last until 4:30 with supervised free time from 4:30 – 5:00. Parents should pick up their student by 5:00 at the Cafeteria/Old Gym doors.
One meeting a month is usually a service project. Some upcoming service projects will include helping a local non-profit, aiding teachers and staff, helping other parishioners with yard work and home improvements, and much more. Past service projects include making rosaries for our twin parish, writing letters to service men over seas, playing Bingo with the Sisters of St. Francis and much more. We are always looking for new ideas, so please let us know if you have a service project in mind. Service projects may count for 1 hour of service for Confirmation hours.
Other Youth Group meetings include programs and activities such as CYO Camp program, holiday celebrations, socializing with your peers, games and activities, and much more.
Besides the twice a month meetings, Youth Ministries sponsors activities and events for Jr. High and High School youth in our parish. Some past activities and events include snow tubing at Perfect North, a 1 day mission trip to Indianapolis, a canoe trip, Called 2 Serve, and much more. Paper Registration forms will need to be filled out and turned in or register online for EVERYONE participating in the after school meetings. Events and activities outside of the Friday meetings will require a separate permission slip. If you have concerns about transportation, please call Carrie at 812-212-9477 or email to cwesseler@st.louisschool.org.
